Whatever happened to the Episcopalian youngsters from across the water that used to stroll down my street of a summer's evening? They were housed in the block of short-stay flats at the opposite end and would move in convoy towards the sports centre for healthy and vigorous physical recreation. How happily they chattered as they went. The fellows were always named Brad or Tod or Jared. Any male name would end in a 'D'. A solid sound, that will render the owner successful in all that they do. I have no idea what names the females possessed, no-one seemed to audibly address them. Just the guys. I note from that rigorous and scientifically irreproachable sampling method (http://www.livejournal.com/stats/latest.bml) that every dozenth post makes reference to a Jared - why so many? Perhaps there is only one Jared, who has achieved omnipresence? Or perhaps a quota system is in place. I also see that there are innumerable young females named 'Brittany'. There can be only one origin for such a name yet I cannot fathom why even the cruellest parent would wish their offspring to be associated with a coastal region which is perpetually damp, cold and visually graceless.

Actually, there aren't quite so many Jareds in the latest posts page. But I counted (using Edit - Find... no I read each entry carefully) fourteen uses of the word 'awesome', spread quite evenly across approx fifteen seconds' worth of posts. That's 56 a minute. Or (using Accessories - Calculator... no, I did it in my head) 80,640 per day.

The sun is out as I type. This is how I am causing my life to pass, a greater sin by far than failing to search for synonyms before posting.
